Do eSIM.net plans support 5G Standalone, 5G SA or 5G+?
5G Standalone, also called 5G SA, is a newer type of 5G network service. Some phones may show this as 5G+.
It is different from standard 5G. Standard 5G may be available on many plans where the network, your location and your phone support it. 5G Standalone depends on extra network support and the specific mobile line profile.
Which eSIM.net plans support 5G Standalone?
5G Standalone availability depends on the network used by your plan.
| Plan type |
5G Standalone / 5G SA / 5G+ availability |
| O2 UK eSIM plans |
Some eligible O2 UK lines may support 5G Standalone, but this may need a supplier check or activation request. |
| Vodafone UK eSIM plans |
Some eligible Vodafone UK lines may support 5G Standalone, but it is not guaranteed automatically and may need a supplier check or activation request. |
| EE eSIM plans |
EE plans supplied by eSIM.net do not currently support 5G Standalone / 5G SA / 5G+. |
| Travel and data-only plans |
Standard 5G may be available where supported, but 5G Standalone is not normally something we can request or guarantee on these plans. |
How do I request a 5G Standalone check?
If you have an O2 UK or Vodafone UK eSIM and want us to check whether 5G Standalone can be enabled, please contact support@esim.net from the email address used for your order.
Please include:
- your eSIM.net order number;
- your mobile number;
- your phone model;
- confirmation that your phone software is up to date;
- the UK location where you expect to use 5G Standalone.
We will check your line and request activation where available.
Will my phone definitely show 5G+?
No. Even if 5G Standalone is available on your line, your phone may not always show 5G+, 5G SA or a standalone indicator.
This can depend on:
- network coverage in your exact location;
- your phone model;
- your phone software and carrier settings;
- the mobile line profile;
- whether the network has enabled 5G Standalone for that area.
Do I need a replacement eSIM?
Not always. A replacement eSIM is not automatically required for 5G Standalone.
If you ask for an R15 or newer-technology eSIM profile, we must check this with the supplier first. We cannot guarantee that a replacement eSIM will be a specific R15 or newer profile unless the supplier confirms this for your line.
Important
5G Standalone is an availability and eligibility feature, not a general fault fix. If your eSIM has no signal, no data icon, cannot connect to mobile data, or is showing an error, please follow the relevant troubleshooting article or contact support with screenshots of the issue.
