What is the difference between 'National' and 'International' roaming

You might in your phone setting have the following choices when enabling roaming ( e.g. in some Motorola phones ).

Here is what each option means:

  • Disable: Turns off data roaming entirely. Your phone will only use mobile data when it is connected directly to your primary network provider's towers. If you leave their coverage area, your mobile data will cut off.

  • National network: Allows the phone to connect to other partner networks within your home country to fill in coverage gaps (dead zones). This is highly common for MVNOs (Virtual Operators) or carriers with domestic sharing agreements, and it typically does not incur extra charges.

  • All network: Allows both domestic and international roaming. This gives your phone permission to connect to any compatible network worldwide. You will want this enabled if you are traveling abroad and using an eSIM or a roaming plan, but keep it off if you want to avoid unexpected international roaming fees on a standard home SIM.

WHEN USING OUR DATA ONLY PLANS OR USING ONE OF OUR LOCAL PLANS OUTSIDE THEIR HOME COUNTRY YOU MUST SELECT 'ALL NETWORK' TO ENABLE INTERNATIONAL ROAMING.
