I cannot get a signal on my SFR France eSIM

Our SFR France plan is a dual IMSI solution. In France, the service operates on the SFR network, while roaming, it uses the Orange France network of roaming partners.

There is an 'applet' on the eSIM (a tiny software program) that recognises when the user is outside France and switches IMSI accordingly, switching back again when re-entering France.

Occasionally, the applet may get stuck and not switch correctly, which results in no signal for the service. If this happens, you need to go into the applet and do the switch manually.

On the iPhone, you can do this by going into Settings, then Mobile Service and selecting the eSIM service. There is a menu entry at the bottom of the next screen called 'SIM Applications'. This takes you to the applet menu.

On an Android phone, you will have an additional app icon on your home screen called 'DualIMSI', which is the name of the applet. When you select this, you get to the applet menu.

In either case once at the applet menu you need to select 'Roaming Services'. Select this and then select 'Changer de mode' to change the operating mode. Select the manual mode ('Manuel') and then select either 'Home' or 'Roaming' depending on whether you are in France or outside France respectively. This will force the applet to use the correct IMSI. You may also need to manually select a network (SFR in France).

Do not forget to manually switch the IMSI back when required.
