SIM lock/unlock and confirmation QR code installation pin codes for eSIMs

There are 2 totally different 4-digit PIN codes that are supplied with some of our products:

1.  'SIM lock/unlock codes' are 4-digit codes that allow a SIM to be locked and unlocked. The purpose is to prevent someone who steals a phone or a SIM card from using the SIM card.

Our Orange Spain eSIMs are delivered SIM locked and require a SIM unlock pin code to be entered before they can be used. None of our other plans are delivered SIM locked.

Note that you have only three attempts to enter the correct SIM lock pin so be careful to ensure that you use the SIM pin that has been sent in your order confirmation email along with the QR code. Note that you will be required to re-enter the SIM lock pin every time you reboot your phone.

We highly recommend disabling the SIM lock PIN in your phone's Settings.

2. QR Installation codes

Our Three eSIMs require the user to enter a 4-digit 'QR Installation code' after scanning the QR code to install the eSIM. This is a one-off requirement during installation and is enclosed in your order confirmation email that contains the QR code. The purpose of these codes is to stop someone who has wrongly gotten hold of a QR code from installing it.

This QR Installation code is sometimes referred to as a 'confirmation code'.

THESE TWO 4-DIGIT CODES SERVE TOTALLY DIFFERENT PURPOSES AND MUST NOT BE CONFUSED.

IN ADDITION IT IS POSSIBLE FOR AN OPERATOR TO LOCK A PHONE TO A SPECIFIC MOBILE PLAN. IT IS SOMETIMES REFERRED TO AS THE PHONE BEING SIM LOCKED, HOWEVER IN REALITY IT IS THE PHONE BEING LOCKED. AGAIN THIS MUST NOT BE CONFUSED WITH EITHER OF THE 2 PINS MENTIONED ABOVE.
